Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) students continued to demonstrate strong academic performance on the 2025-2026 Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments, outperforming the state on every reading, writing, science and history assessment, and on all mathematics assessments except Grade 7 Math.

The Virginia Beach School Board received information about proposed federal grant applications at its May 12 meeting. For the 2026-27 school year, Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) would receive approximately $18.9 million in formula grant funds through programs authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA).

During their time here, our students will work alongside caring and capable teachers, staff and administrators while tackling a rigorous instructional program. We set high expectations for our Chargers, and we see them excel through their academics, their leadership and in their service to others.

Brandon Middle offers many exciting academic and extracurricular opportunities for our students. We are proud of all of our students and their accomplishments, including our four winners in Forensics, our always strong chess team, our championships in football and boys basketball (plus playoff appearances in other sports), our strong showing at the STEM Trifecta, and, most of all, our community service, including building a well in South Sudan.

We encourage students and families to take advantage of all the programs and events at Brandon in order to make the most of the middle school experience.
